Summary:
Documents the famous workshop of the graphic art, the TGP (Taller de Gráfica Popular) founded in 1937. It is the longest standing graphic workshop in Mexico. It began with the purpose of bringing art to the people and has reflected almost every political, social, labor theme that has occurred in Mexico since its' inception. Most of the greats of 20th century art in Mexico worked at the TGP, including: Leopoldo Mendez (the director and driving force), Orozco, Siquieros, Tamayo, Zalce, Pablo O'Higgins. The production of the workshop has included broadsides, posters, fine press prints and portfolios, and illustrations for books and periodical literature. In many ways the work, especially the political aspects complimented themuralist movement. An essential reference for 20th century graphic art.
